Member of the Association of Reflexologists
Reflexology is a holistic complementary therapy which works on the feet to help the whole person not just the symptoms of a complaint. A treatment session is usually 45 minutes to one hour long.It is a healing art believed to date back to Ancient Egypt, India and China. In 1913 a nose, ear and throat specialist Dr William Fitzgerald developed a version he called "zone therapy" which he used to anaesthesize his patients for minor operations. Then in the 1930's Eunice Ingham further developed zone therapy by working other specific reflexes on the feet and hands. She noticed that congestion or tension in any part of the body was mirrored in the corresponding part of the foot. Her methods developed into Reflexology as we know it to-day.
